At Austin Property Services, we are delighted to say we have helped many homeowners to make their home more appealing to prospective viewers and buyers in January, and we can help you if this is something you require.

Make sure the outside is welcoming and safe

Given that temperatures may be low and there may not be much natural light, it is vital that you ensure the outside of your home is safe and welcoming. If there has been ice or frost, use grit or salt to create a safe pathway. If your path or driveway is messy, muddy or has a lot of puddles, do your best to clean up.

Adding extra lights outside your home is a sensible idea when it comes to offering a warm welcome to any guests to your home.

Provide a space to store hats and coats

Given the temperature and weather, it is likely that guests attending your home will be well wrapped up. They may also be wet, depending on the weather. You can give your guests a warm welcome by having a space inside your front door where coats, scarves, hats and umbrellas can be stored.

You should also invest in a welcome mat that allows guests to shake off any mud or excess water from their shoes before they enter your home. This is a polite way to welcome guests to your home but it will also help to keep your home clean.

Create an atmosphere

The lack of natural light may be an issue but it can be used to your advantage. Create a cosy and homely atmosphere in your home with occasional lighting and candles. Candles are an excellent addition to any home because not only do they create an enticing look, scented candles can create a fantastic smell that makes people feel at home.

Make sure your home is well insulated

Before you welcome viewers to your home, make sure that your home is well insulated. Cracks or gaps in door frames or window frames allow warm air to escape and this can make your home feel miserable or damp.

A well-insulated home isn’t just comfortable, it saves money too because you waste less energy. If you want viewers to be wowed by your home, impress them with the energy efficiency of your home.

Offer warm drinks and baked goods

Another way that you can provide a warm welcome to guests is by offering them a warm drink and baked goods. This is hospitable but it will also fill your home with lovely smells, and this will make any viewer feel right at home.

January isn’t the busiest month of the year in the property market calendar but if you’re looking to sell your home, we can help you make the best impression. Contact Austin Property Services for the best support and guidance in welcoming buyers to your home.
